Course

This course is built on two decades of work on the development of humans, from youth to adult, which culminated in a new book - What Makes you Stronger. It will deliver a framework for contextual behavioural science that stretches across evolution, behavioural science, and self-determination theories. You will learn how to apply this as a potent blend of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and positive psychology.
• You will learn how to help older adolescents (15+) and adults gain resilience in the face of change.
DNA-v has become a leading worldwide application to improve prosocial actions, in school curriculums, and in child and adolescent mental health services. With this workshop, you‘ll learn how to apply it and support people as they emerge from adolescence into adulthood.

Help others discover the skills they need to face change and uncertainty with confidence—and grow even stronger!

Change can happen so slowly that you might not even notice it. And sometimes, it can happen in an instant, causing our world to come crashing down. Change is scary, and as a result, many people try to avoid it, or even actively resist it. While burying their heads in the sand can provide some short-term relief, fear can grow and manifest itself in life-altering ways like stress, anxiety, or depression.
In this training, you’ll learn to apply the proven-effective DNA-v model (Discoverer, Noticer, Advisor, Value, and Vitality)— a potent framework for acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and positive psychology.
Using an easily applied six-step process, you’ll learn to help adolescents and adults (16 to 25) cope with change and adversity and grow stronger. They can learn to manage uncertainty, break unhealthy behavior patterns, and reduce overwhelm when things start to feel out of control.
The purpose of DNA-V is to help people develop flexible strength – the ability to persist in important things they care about and to change behaviour that’s making their life worse.

DNA-v: A Simple 6-Step Process to Positive Change
• The Broaden and Build Process – Learn to create, think, play, and explore in a way that builds value and joy.
• Mindfulness and Attention Process – Pause and respond to feelings, rather than reacting impulsively.
• The Cognitive Process – Disengage from negative self-talk.
• The Values-Based Process – Clarify your values to create a meaningful life.
• The Self-View Process – Let go of your ego and see your potential rather than your limitations.
• The Social-View Process – Build genuine connections, manage difficult people, and forge strong social relationships.

The workshop will suit professionals working with adults in all settings, including coaching, education, and counseling.

Dr. Louise Hayes divides her time between writing, training, and clinical work in acceptance, mindfulness and positive therapeutic approaches. She uses effective, science-based processes to help people become stronger and create deeper relationships. Louise has travelled the world training thousands of professionals in therapy and counselling for adolescents and adults. More than anything else, she loves sharing a journey that can help us all understand our humanity.
