Fjármálaenska ( e. English for global finance& banking) - International Banking, World Economics & Investments

Ætlað þeim sem hafa haldgóða enskukunnáttu en vilja efla þekkingu sína á hugtökum fjármálaensku og þjálfa orðaforða, hlustun, tal og ritun. Námskeiðið fer fram á ensku.
This course is designed for intermediate learners and above who would like to improve their banking and financial English in the following three areas: International Banking, World Economics and Investments.

Learners will focus on acquiring and using core banking and financial vocabulary in each of the six sessions by:


• Discussing general themes related to each area and how these themes are relevant to the Icelandic banking industry/economy in a global village
• Working on reading comprehension skills by answering questions on articles and information brochures on global financial and banking issues
• Working on listening comprehension skills by listening to business reports on global financial and banking issues and being able to give a summary of the content of the report in their own language
• Working on banking and financial vocabulary for the globalized world though in-class activities such as word search, linking and completing sentences, word fields, crosswords, and gapfill exercises
• Participating in in-class role plays with an emphasis on activating passive vocabulary, practicing new words and expressions, and having fun
• Writing short reviews and reports on such themes as: share performance, inflationary and deflationary trends, projects in Iceland that have attracted foreign investment, economic reports.
